The Cabinet had approved for creation of Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited as a State Government Company in its meeting held on 10.02.2014.The Corporation was incorporated as a Public Sector Enterprise on 23.09.2014 under the Companies Act, 2013 with its registered office at Guwahati. The company is limited by shares. The Authorized Share Capital of the Company has been enhanced from Rs. 1900,000,000/- (Rupees One Hundred and Ninety Crore) to Rs.3000,000,000/- (Rupees Three Hundred Crore).

Objective :-
  • To implement the provisions of The National Food Security Act, 2013 and similar other statute enacted by the Government of India and Government of Assam.
  • To take delivery of edible essential commodities allotted by Central Government to State Government and to distribute the same amongst the consumers of the State of Assam by the Corporation and through various agencies of the Government.
  • To develop Producer Companies for handling of agricultural products and provide production and support services to farmers, communities, cooperatives etc. for efficient procurement, storage, processing and distribution of food and essential commodities.
  • To act as nodal agency in food procurement related activities and take necessary action for storing and keeping commodities procured by the Corporation.
  • To undertake procurement and distribution of essential commodities like rice, wheat, sugar and other agricultural produce under Minimum Support Prices (MSP).
  • To develop and modernize end to end supply chain for food commodities under the Public Distribution System (PDS) and also to provide a network of Wholesale and Retail Outlets to ensure smooth functioning of distribution system.
  • Market intervention to stabilize the prices so as to provide protection to the growers of paddy and other coarse grains through minimum support prices.
  • To take up any other similar schemes of the State Government and ensure lifting and distribution amongst beneficiaries selected under the rules/guidelines.
  • To develop and provide all managerial and technological support services to various entities for enabling efficiency and commercial viability of food related supply.
  • To implement various time bound schemes/programmes as and when introduced by the Central Government or by the State Government.
